The 3 lug silencer-ready Scorpion is the same price as the 1/2x28 silencer-ready Scorpion. When ordering, please state barrel type in the "Notes" section of the order.
Each silencer-ready Scorpion will possess a permanently attached adapter in either 3 lug or 1/2x28 threads. These two adapters are not interchangeable on the modified Scorpion barrel. In other words, one barrel will not accept both adapters.
In addition, silencer-ready barrels are available to those who already own a Scorpion. These barrels are available to owners of D-Technik Scorpions and to owners of Scorpions of other manufacturers. The price for the 3 lug silencer-ready barrel or for the 1/2x28 silencer-ready barrel (including thread protector) is $242.00. Removal of existing barrel and installation of a silencer-ready barrel is $70.00.
Technical Details
The silencer adapters are concentric to the barrel to avoid any issues of alignment. In addition, the adapters are made of stainless steel (300 series) and refinished in black oxide. The 1/2x28 thread adapter will include a thread protector.
How does a 9mm silencer perform on a .32 acp Scorpion?
During testing, the same Evolution 9 (threaded 1/2x28) was shot on both the Scorpion and a 9mm CZ 75 B pistol (using 9mm subsonic ammunition – 3.6gr bullseye under 147gr FMJ). The Scorpion, using S&B factory loaded ammunition, was perceived to be quieter than the 9mm CZ 75 B. There is a myth that the Scorpion suffers from excessive ejection port pop noise, but there was no evidence of this issue. During testing, both shooters and bystanders agreed – the Scorpion was quieter than the CZ 75B.
The Scorpion is a natural for a silencer for two specific reasons: (1) the barrel is fixed to the receiver so there is zero chance of cycling issues, and (2) factory loaded ammunition is subsonic.
