CzechPoint currently has a limited number of silencer-ready Scorpion SBRs in stock that can be transferred on a Form 3. CzechPoint will pay for shipping, but All NFA transfer fees are the responsibility of the purchaser. In addition, the purchaser must make arrangements with their own dealer to complete this transfer. If there are any questions, please contact Dan Brown for assistance.
The 3 lug silencer-ready Scorpion SBR is the same price as the 1/2x28 silencer-ready Scorpion SBR. When ordering, please confirm barrel type in the "Notes" section.
Each silencer-ready Scorpion SBR will possess a permanently attached adapter in either 3 lug or 1/2x28 threads. These two adapters are not interchangeable on the modified Scorpion SBR barrel. In other words, one barrel will not accept both adapters.
Technical Details
The silencer adapters are concentric to the barrel to avoid any issues of alignment. In addition, the adapters are made of stainless steel (300 series) and refinished in black oxide. The 1/2x28 thread adapter will include a thread protector.
The photo below shows an AAC Evolution 9 (9mm) on a Scorpion SBR. This silencer is mounted on the 1/2x28 thread adapter. Depending on the manufacturer of the 9mm silencer, the folding stock may or may not collapse with a threaded silencer attached. In the case of the Scorpion pictured below, it was necessary to shorten the stock slightly (approximately 1/8"). This was an easy modification to the stock itself and took only 20 minutes and required the use of a punch, hammer, hacksaw, and drill.
All available 3 lug silencers will not allow the folding stock to collapse while the silencer is attached. The folding stock will collapse with the 3 lug silencer removed, but it may be necessary to "spread" the folding stock slightly by hand (the part of the stock that clears the 3 lug adapter). Spreading the folding stock wire (in the area of the 3 lug adapter) does not cause any issues of the stock locking into place onto the front sight ears.
How does a 9mm Silencer perform on a .32 acp Scorpion?
During testing, the same Evolution 9 (threaded 1/2x28) was shot on both the Scorpion and a 9mm CZ 75 B pistol (using 9mm subsonic ammunition – 3.6gr bullseye under 147gr FMJ). The Scorpion, using S&B factory loaded ammunition, was perceived to be quieter than the 9mm CZ 75 B. There is a myth that the Scorpion suffers from excessive ejection port pop noise, but there was no evidence of this issue. During testing, both shooters and bystanders agreed – the Scorpion was quieter than the CZ 75B.
The Scorpion is a natural for a silencer for two specific reasons: (1) the barrel is fixed to the receiver so there is zero chance of cycling issues, and (2) factory loaded ammunition is subsonic.
* It is recommended that FMJ (round nose) be used to ensure excellent reliability during cycling.
